Explosion in Albania

Horrifying news today from Albania where a munitions depot exploded this morning. Watch the video from beginning to end to see the effect of the blasts!

Peter and I were chatting this morning on MSN and he told me that he was perhaps 50 kms away from the explosion in Petrella and he thought it was an earthquake at first, but it only lasted a second or two. He said the earth literally shook! After viewing the video it's no wonder the earth moved. It was enormous!

My thoughts and prayers are with all my Albanian and foreign friends back home. Be safe and take care of one another.

I thought of you when I heard this news. Though I also knew you are not in Albania at the moment.

Horrific and terrifying - that billowing smoke, those flames and the noise.

Pleased to hear that you and Peter are safe. Very sad.

What is sad is that this explosion is the direct result of the very things that upset you while living in that country.

This government and its shills must fall once and for ever. NATO admission must be denied, thus paving the way for the fall of the entire political caste of Tirana that has premised its existence upon achieving NATO and EU membership.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and comments. I'm far away in Canada and Peter is fine in Tirana, but our prayers are with everyone who is suffering after the explosions. To be ijured in Albania is the biggest tragedy- there is so little help available.

qafira... I know ... and that makes me sad and angry.

Some of the injured are here in Brindisi's hospital. In the news last night they talked about a 3 year old that finally was riunited his father in our hospital but the father died just a few hours after they met. Very sad.
