No Fear

Well I've finally had to give in to the option of monitoring all comments on my blog, something I have always been hesitant to do because of my belief in freedom of expression and my liberal attitude on censorship. But dear anonymous has forced my hand this morning. A half dozen insane comments on my little list of personal beliefs has led to this reaction. It doesn't make me happy because it means a bit more work on my part by having to monitor comments but I will not have my blog be a forum for someone else's hatred and illogical ranting.
Hatred is based on fear and fear is based on a lack of education. There is a lot of hatred in the Balkans and I won't have it here no matter what it stems from. Anonymous has vented so many types of fears/hatreds that I wouldn't know where to begin to address his/her problem. Agism, sexism, racism, etc- they're all forms of fear. I don't live my life in fear and I am truly sorry for anyone who does. It must be a terrible way to live.
I love my life. I love the choices I have made. I love the things I believe in. I love Albania and the Albanians, but I also love Croatians, Macedonians, Americans, Mexicans and Martians. The only way to bring peace to this planet is through love. Obviously hatred isn't working.
So challenge me if you will, but here I stand.

Well I'm sorry you have to take on the burden of moderation, but you have to take a stand. Your blog is a bit like your living room and I figure you can't have people saying things on your blog you wouldn't let them get away with in your house.

Maybe after some time passes you could lift the moderation, to make your life easier??

Hey Kim,

I am sorry some coward upset you through the anonymous comments. I think you rock!

So, keep rocking on!

I'm sorry that someone with an attitude like that has forced you into this. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I read your blog often and would like to encourage you to not give in the ignorant comments of others.

Now I'm curious to see what prompted this "censure" :)

Personally I'm a big believer in keeping blog visitors on a tight leash; there are a lot of people who'd like to/can trash a blog in just minutes if they're given free rein so "censure" is unavoidable.

Keep writing.

The internet is a wonderful thing except when it gives cowards the opportunity to attack under the blanket of anonymity. Offensive anonymous commenters should never be paid any mind.

'Anonymous' could at lease thave the guts to sign in. It is vary easy to talk trash when you have the ability to hide behind 'anonymous.'
