Back "Home"

Well.... I'm back in Albania once again! Been back almost a week and have felt really great- no jet-lag, health situation is under control, the weather is glorious, and I am once again cuddling my dog and oh yeahhhhhhhhh- my hubby! Life is good!

I haven't explained my health situation to you yet, but I will now. In Aug. while in Canada I was convinced by my dad to have a check-up with his physician. Honestly, I had an overwhelming PHOBIA of doctors and have done all that I could to avoid them for most of my life. I have fainted several times while merely visiting people in hospitals and I have vivid memories of hiding UNDER the examining table, kicking and screaming, when I was just 5 years old. But my dear old dad twisted my arm and so I went. I had a panic attack while I was walking to the appointment and had to sit on a bench, wipe my tears, and calm myself down. Anyway, to make a long story short (you can read the long version here www.imsweetenough.blogspot.com ), it turned out that I had 3 rather serious problems- high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the worst news was that I have Diabetes. UGH. I was prescribed 5 medications and I made a drastic change in my diet and lifestyle. Now the good news-- all the conditions are well under control and all my numbers are within normal ranges. I now eat no-sugar, low-fat, and no-salt. Yeah- boring, but worth it. My life is far too wonderful to risk losing it. So I'm trying to be good.

Long Shadows in Autumn in Canada

I've made a little promise to myself that I will take a photo everyday and post it on my photoblog. I started this week and you can see the daily pic on my blog www.softandcloudy.blogspot.com . I'm aiming for kinda artistic shots of a moment in my daily life. Not sure it will be interesting but I'll try.

Give me time to catch up with all of you- I promise I will!

Glad you are back with doggie and hubby. Take care of yourself, and I look forward to your photoblog!

Welcome back! (If that's not too presumptuous.)

You had me worried there for a bit, but now it's good to know that you've hurdled that doctor phobia and on the way to healthier(?) eating. I hate saying it like that because yeah, you're right, it does sound boring. In any case, better to be healthy than not! ;-)

It IS good to have you back, Kim, and clearly wanting to live well! The world is a better place because of you, so please do whatever it takes to live forever! Donica, too, has had to take the Diabetes bull by the horns this year. I'm proud of you both for doing the hard work towards health.

Good to read that things are under control. You did give me a wee fright, as I'm in a similar situation and still putting it off.

Dentist at the end of the month ... I've at least resigned myself to that.
