April Nights

This is what I adore about April in Albania... A month ago it was cold and damp in our apartment and we needed those lovely, new fleece sheets I brought back from Canada in order to keep warm in bed... A month from now it will be hot and humid and impossible to sleep without the drone of the air conditioner above our heads, and even one silk sheet on our bodies will feel like too much. But April, oh lovely April (called simply Prill in Albanian) is the best month for sleeping. The window is left wide open and the cool, fresh air pours over our bodies, allowing us to quickly fall asleep and dream of ocean breezes from past vacations.

how nice! i'm hoping when i get back home to italy, it will be similar--here in Indianapolis right now, it's like that too. I never thought I'd like the spring as much as I do--I've always been an autumn person.

if we leave the windows open here, we are carried away by itty bitty skeeters.

anyway, love your new picture!

Jackie, I hope the weather stays fresh for your return!

Tracie I know! But lucky for me we have screens on our windows- an unexpected find here in Albania! We haven't had them for all of the 10 years we've lived in Europe!

Sounds delightful, reminiscent of Autumn in Melbourne!

I really like the view from your bedroom window. Have they fixed the clock tower yet? :)

Last time I checked the clock was not working, which is sad. And we really do have the most wonderful view from our apartment! I love the blue lights that are used around the city on special places.

From the looks of it, your dog also appreciates your fleece sheet purchase. LOL I can't say I blame him though since I feel like crawling into that bed too...it looks TOO comfy cozy!

PS: I LOOOVE your new profile pic! No wonder your Greek gym owner felt compelled to compliment you. :-)

Really nice picture and great view. I miss Tirana so much and can't wait to come back on summer!

I'm an "April baby" and I love this month because it's at the crossroads of the seasons. Go back one month and you're still kinda into winter, go forward a month and there's the heat of the summer, but APRIL is bliss!

April is wonderful! All of the vineyards are in full bloom. Just beautiful! Now if I could just stop the rain....

Thanks for all your sweet compliments!
EuroT== you live in DRESDEN! When we lived in Prague we had a swimming pool and we used it maybe twice all summer! You will never have to worry about not sleeping!

The view from your window tells me exactly where you live. I had no idea you were so close to the town's Scanderbeg square. :D

Yep ITS... I'm right there and loving it.

Albanian weather sounds very similar to Tokyo's! I'm intrigued by your fleece sheets :)

Miss Kim said...

These sheets are not what we used to call flannel or flannelette, but are made from polar fleece which we use in Canada for outdoor winter wear or blankets. It's so cushy and it retains your body heat all night long. I love it!

I, too, love the window view. Forget the sheets (ha).

ooh, screens! that is something I've been missing (although the ants that have moved into our bedroom seem happy that we are without screens...)
