You Kiss Mine- I'll Kiss Yours

Yesterday during the brief time in the evening when we did have power, I happened to watch the Albanian news- in Albanian- and caught an intriguing news item about the Prime Minister Sali Berisha and it made me furious. It seems that the PM was in the Vatican this week giving the "Order of Mother Teresa" award to the Vatican Radio for its service to the Balkan community, especially during the communist years. You know, I'd like a word with Mr. Berisha. Here in Albania, his people are once again living in communist-like conditions, and he leaves them all behind to go kiss the hand of the Pope and give an award. Oh and of course, his wife went along, and a small entourage. Mr. Berisha apparently returned home with a medal and his wife with a new rosary. Nice.

Aww, that's so cute. You are getting passionate about the Kabbala like intricacies of Albanian politics...

In other related news, I read that by next week the power cut-off times will improve somehow.

I hope you get to feel better.

This post is too funny. I decided to come back for more. As a matter of fact during 10 years of communism that I got to experience there were probably 2-3 blackouts in total. If there is one thing that was better during communism was the electrical power situation.

Ever since the fall of communism the electricity consumption has quadrupled, but there has been no improvements to the existing system. Maybe we should resurrect Hoxha to fix this situation ;)

As I read this last night, watching the leafs, simultaneously looking at the internet on my home computer, and work stuff on my laptop- I felt compelled to at least turn one of them off ---guilty as Berisha in a different way. And Yes the Leafs lost...
