Free as a Bird...

A Downy Woodpecker

Last week I told you about our new "treehouse"- the screened deck off our kitchen which is about 15 feet off the ground and how wonderful it is to be able to watch the birds which come to our feeders. So far we have spotted chickadees, downy woodpeckers, hummingbirds, nuthatches, thrushes, and these colourful blue jays. Now blue jays are loud, gregarious, boisterous birds and my Mom is always shooing them away. But I love them! Look how wonderful their colour is.

3 Blue Jays

There are three Jays here in this photo and it was shot through the screen so it is a bit blurry, but don't you agree, they are impressive?

I used to find those blue and black stripey feathers in the garden when I was little. Magic feathers!

There is definitely something about living that close to the trees and the birds! I call it Therapy for the Soul. So glad you are surrounded by it, Kim!

Holy crap, you have been spamed.

The comment page took forever to load.

Those blue jays are mighty fine. I wish the Toronto Blue Jays would be doing a bit better too. :)

My Grandma always had humming bird feeders on her deck. I always loved watching them.

We don't have any bird feeders at our house, but I think it would make my cats crazy. Kind of like placing a peanut butter cup outside my window, but not being about to eat it! hehehehe.

Great photos too Kim!

Spectacular shots of the Blue Jays! I did a lot of bird watching while in Uganda and now I'm quite fascinated with the world of birds.
