No Shooting!

After bowling this afternoon we stopped to peer inside the new casino in the bowling complex. We all had a big laugh when we spotted two signs posted on the door:

Okay well that's not TOO unusual...
But what kind of place am I living in that needs to tell you-

??????????????????????????????????????

We all thought it would be fun to go
but what if they frisked us and tried to take away our guns--
I mean cameras?!?!

By golly when they frown on shooting, they frown on it all!

In US of A, the second sign is so very common on public institutions and governemnt buildings.

I am not talking about bad areas either. I am talking about all-American little towns population circa 50k.

Wow ITS- I am surprised (though I suppose I shouldn't be)!

Kim, that is just too scary! But if you think about it, if they had those signs in public establishments within the US, it shouldn't surprise anyone. We're a gun-loving, gun-toting, shoot'em up Yeehaw! country I'm afraid.

If someone used the first one to take a shot at my upturned rear as I bowled, I would use the secong on the camera and then probably the photographer. It makes perfect sense to me!

Rowena- it is a bit scary isn't it? Yesterday the US embassy was evacuated here because of a bombscare (which was a hoax).
Judith-- you're hilarious! (I try hard not to bend over to much when bowling!)

PLEASE NOTE
The management kindly requests that all customers refrain from shooting each other on the premises.

:-)

Maybe the camera rule is something to do with the fact that it's a casino. I dunno, I find that one rather strange.

Casino's inevitably mean money - money usually attracts organised crime - sometimes money laundering, sometimes just betting scams.

The no photogrpahy is supposed to stop people recording the tables and passing info to a third party so they can *work* the tables / beat the system.

The no guns sign is a crude way of saying the only guns allowed in here are those carried by the staff!

I havent seen in the UK yet - have seen in Greece and Turkey.

My guess is that in countries where one is allowed to carry a gun by law - they have to tell you where you cant!

Interesting post. Unrelated, I just read your comment on taxes over at Expat's. Would the four-letter version not be "TAXZ"?

Ah - that would really tear me away... Not my cup of tea... I'd have too many ideas stirring in my head as I walked around.

then you could just shoot 'em, you know, with your camera.

Well, at least if they catch someone with u gun in there he can't say "I didn't know I couldn't take a gun with me". ;P
